PURE LUXURY FROM THE MOUNTAINS

Cashmere

Cashmere - the finest from nature

Cashmere is one of the finest and most valuable natural fibers of all. It is obtained from the fur of cashmere goats. To protect them from the cold temperatures in their original home, the Himalayan region, these goats develop a particularly fine, soft and dense undercoat that protects them from the extreme cold.

The wool is often processed into cashmere sweaters, scarves or socks, which are particularly popular in the cold season. Cashmere wool flatters the skin with its soft and light fibers and gives you a luxurious feeling.

Are cashmere socks worth it?

If you do not like warm feet, silky-soft wear socks or like on clouds then cashmere is not for you, no. But if these properties appeal to you, then they are definitely worth it. For our cashmere-modal socks, we process 8% cashmere with beechwood-derived modal. This combination is durable, yet incredibly soft! Really - you have to feel it.

Treat your feet to pure luxury!

How cashmere wool is obtained

In spring, when the air becomes a little milder, the goat loses some of its hair as its coat changes. At this time, the valuable wool can be extracted from the undercoat by combing. The annual gain in wool per goat is only 100 to 150 grams, which is why cashmere is one of the most valuable natural fibers.

The name of the wool is derived from the Indian region of the same name. In the Roman Empire, this place was the main supplier of this valuable natural yarn. Today, the majority of cashmere wool comes from China, Mongolia, Iran, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland.

Enjoy the many properties of wool

Moisture, dirt, odors - cashmere repels everything we don't need and keeps the wearer in a pleasantly warm environment. Cashmere goats have to protect themselves against temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees. For this reason, the fibers are very long and retain heat six times better than sheep's wool. Moisture and odors, on the other hand, are wicked away.

Although the fibers are very fine, they are crease and tear resistant. You can recognize a genuine cashmere product by the fact that there are no permanent creases. But don't worry, we check the authenticity of the wool.

Is it really cashmere?

Cashmere is such a sought-after natural product that it also attracts counterfeiters. Not all textiles labeled cashmere actually contain cashmere wool. Some fakes are difficult to detect if less expensive types of wool have been mixed in, as animal wool has the same structure.

To guarantee the authenticity of the cashmere wool, we have DNA analyses carried out. This is the only way we can be sure that you get what you pay for.

The best way to care for cashmere

Thanks to its natural self-cleaning effect, cashmere does not need to be washed after every wear. After airing out, the cashmere product is free of all odors and as good as new again.

The product can be washed again after being worn four to five times. Hand washing or a gentle wool wash program up to a maximum of 30 degrees is preferable. Instead of wringing out, place in a terry towel, squeeze out gently and leave to dry flat. Pills that form over time can be removed with a pilling comb.
